3 Ways To Make The Most Of LinkedIn With Little Experience
3 Ways To Make The Most Of LinkedIn With Little Experience Facebook9TweetLinkedInPinEmailShares9 How to make the most out of LinkedIn with little experience You are all signed up and ready to go. Youve got that professional profile photograph ready to upload and youve entered all of your school and university details. Whats next? You may feel as though you have no experience and nothing that will make you stand out from the crowd. Like anything, there are clever ways to avoid this and it means adding a little time to your weekly schedule, but itll all be worth it in the long run. If youve got it flaunt it. So, whatever you studied at university, whatever skills you acquired add them. Some things can be really attractive to employers even if you dont think they are. Say you organised a film night at university, you wrote an article for the university freshers week or you designed a brand for a university project all of these things are worth adding. Social Media provides the opportunity to really show yourself off. So go for it. Every professional achievement big or small, add it. Make yourself re-live the proudness when you are entering it into your profile. A profile with a few good achievements is going to look better than none. For those of you who completed big assignments at University whether it was your dissertation, a photography project or an in-depth piece of research, dont abandon it as soon as you finish university. The topic could appear extremely appealing to some employers and it could be relevant to the vacancy that they are looking to fill. Endorsements / Recommendations You must have someone who you have previously worked with, attended University with or perhaps collaborated with. Contact them, ask them for endorsements for particular skills. Do the same for them. Recommendations are really effective things to have present on your profile. The fact that a previous employer, colleague or even teacher has taken the time to recommend you to others, says a lot. Now, they arent always easy to get but its worth asking politely for one. If you have written recommendations from previous employers, why not drop them a quick email and ask them if they could copy and paste it to LinkedIn. If it only takes a minute of their time (and they like you) then Im sure they wont mind. Start Doing! Instead of sitting there worrying about the skills you dont have. Start doing things worth publishing and adding to your profile. For instance, if you are interested in Fashion why not start an Instagram page and build a community of fashion lovers. You will be gaining the experience of managing and publishing content and effectively creating a brand. Say its music that is your main interest, start a blog, build up some following. The fact that you take time out of your free time to do these things will be extremely appealing to employers. Weve said it before, well say it again VOLUNTEER! Volunteering is a really sought-after characteristic to have on your cv/profile. The motivation to work for free is admirable and displays your dedication to learn new skills. Good luck building your LinkedIn profile! Hopefully, if you do everything that we have suggested you will get yourself noticed. Keep on networking and connecting with professionals; You never know who you might find. The Bubble Team!
